3 Things You Can Use Google Apps for Education For Right Now: Part 1
1. Create a Shared Folder in Google Drive Creating a shared folder is easy and allows you to share collaborative and non-collaborative docs to your colleagues and students. This way all of your course work, syllabus, NEASC Reports, etc. can be shared and edited all within Google Drive. Watch this short video to learn how to create a shared folder in Google Drive. 2. Sharing a Course/Homework Calendar Creating a a Google Calendar is easy and allows you to communicate important dates, events or assignments. The district and building calendars, such as YMS Events, Drama Calendar, Athletics Calendar, etc. will be created by the domain administrator, however, teachers can create secondary calendars for their own learning environment. This allows teachers to easily communicate to their students and parents what is expected and share due dates. The calendar can then be shared to the team or teacher's individual web page. Students and/or parents then have the option to subscribe to the calendar so that they will get immediate notification when a new assignment or event is published to any of their devices. Watch this short video to learn how to create a shared Google Calendar. 3. Use a Google Form with Your Students Google Forms is a great tool that allows you to poll or question your intended audience to check for understanding. Creating a quiz using Forms is a snap and the immediate feedback is what truly empowers Google Forms as a formative assessment tool. All of the responses will be published into an easy to sort and read spreadsheet all within Google Drive. Using advanced tools, you can even sort information for grades if you choose.
